Trio Trophy Finals: Match Report

Trio Trophy Finals: Match Report

The Trio Trophy semis and finals were held yesterday (Wednesday 11th September) at Hill Barn Golf Club. The course was in excellent condition and the weather, although cool, was bright and sunny all day. A highlight in what had been, until then, an unpleasantly wet week.

The Trio Trophy is an inter-club knock out competition for teams of three playing individual match play off handicap and the teams that made it to the semi-finals were from Willingdon, Worthing, Sedlescombe & Piltdown.

In the first semi-final Worthing won against Willingdon and in the second Sedlescombe won against Piltdown in a very close contest that finished on the 18th green. The final was a close contest eventually won by Sedlescombe with Worthing the runners-up. One of the Sedlescombe team was getting married the following day, so an early wedding gift!

Thank you to the Lady Captain for ensuring that we found our way around and very many thanks  to the manager Andrew Smedley and his team for their excellent, calm efficiency that helped the day run so smoothly. Also, a special thank you to Elizabeth Vrondissis for the beautiful flower arrangements.

Update: Picture of the winning team at the wedding celebrations the following day!
