Girls Golf Rocks and Get into Golf Rookies
England Golf (EG) have launched the above initiative and applications are now open for 2025. This is a great opportunity to encourage more girls into the sport - see further details below and apply via England Golf HERE. We'd love to hear any initiatives being run in Sussex so please let us know at the SCLGA via email to Nicole Collingwood of any events and initiatives you have planned.
What is Girls Golf Rocks and get into Golf Rookies all about?
Girls Golf Rocks encourages beginner girls aged 5-18 to learn and play golf in a fun and friendly way, whilst Get into Golf rookies encourages all children and young people aged 5-18. The programmes run nationally across England, and England Golf are looking forward to supporting clubs and facilities during the 2025 season.
EG are looking to recruit clubs/facilities who aim to create an environment where children and young people feel comfortable and confident to participate and the club/facility offer a clear pathway for them to continue their participation.
Format of the programme
The programmes involve six hours of activity with the last hour being out on the course. The six hours can be spread over six weeks or delivered in a camp style format, at the club or facilities discretion. We ask clubs/facilities to deliver two six-hour activity blocks, but these can be delivered concurrently.
All activities are designed to be:
• FUN!
• Involve team/group pursuits
• Include a variety of golf-related activities
• Allow for social time either at the beginning or end (or both)
What’s New for 2025
The delivery window will be from 7th April to 2nd November. Clubs and facilities can set their own pricing, which will be the delivery of the activity only. Goodie bags can be purchased by participants separately on booking the activity while stocks last. Clubs/facilities can deliver the six hours in the following formats:
Course - One-hour sessions delivered over six consecutive weeks
Camp – Any combination of six hours of delivery but not limited to:
o Six hours in 1 day
o 3 hours over consecutive days or weeks
o 2 hours over 3 consecutive days of weeks
o 4x1 hour sessions with the final session being 2 hours (Monday- Friday)
We look forward to hearing news of initiatives within Sussex. Good Luck
